AutoStitch.  An iPhone camera application that allows you to take photos and stitching them together to create a panorama photo.  This is my first AutoStitch photo.  Three photos were taken from across the street from my home.  I have to say that the quality is very good for the original iPhone.  I highly recommend AutoStitch.  The program can be downloaded for a $1.99.  I call this a bargain!

Looks like Dean and are going to Los Angeles and Portland. It’s got some miles to it. At least going to Portland now is so much better than being there in winter!

Mobile Blogging from here.

I got back to Dallas last Thursday and had a three day break.  It’s been great.  I was told on Thursday that I would be heading to Georgia on Monday.  Got a call yesterday saying that my load would not be ready until 5pm today, so I’m getting another half day off (hooray!).

I heard that Fort Benning is having a “display” of some sorts going on and we had delivered a Hummer or two for one of our clients.  I was thinking that we would be going to Georgia to pick them up, but I’m really not sure what we will be taking to Georgia.  No matter.  It’s just a job.

I really love this little video!  Hope you enjoy it!

Netbooks are becoming very inexpensive and the main reason for having a netbook is to be connected to the Internet which means being connected with Wi-Fi or through a cellular Internet connection.  Obviously, the main connection for this netbook would be the Verizon cellular Internet connection.  You can take a “regular” notebook computer and purchase the cellular Internet USB modem or PCMCIA card modem and would have the same connection as the Verizon netbook, but it would be external to the notebook.  The cost of this would be about $62.00 per month over a two year period.  That’s $1,488.00 that you’ve added to the cost of the notebook!  The Verizon netbook costs $199.00, then $1,488.00 for a total of $1,687.00.  Your “regular” notebook would cost $1,488.00 plus the $500 or $600 you paid for the notebook.  So, my question is why do people write this kind of crap???… (See last paragraph discussing costs.)

Verizon HP Mini 1151NR netbook launching May 17th?

by Matt Burns on May 11, 2009

May 17th is shaping up to be a big day for Verizon if this rumor is correctly stating the launch date of upcoming netbook. That day is also the launch date of the portable hotspot, MiFi. The HP Mini netbook comes packing integrated 3g wireless for Internet connectivity and will be available for $199 with a two-year data contract. Yeah, it’s a bit pricey.

Purchasing a netbook this way isn’t the cheapest solution. It will cost somewhere between $960 to $1,440 over the 2 years to own and use the netbook. But some folks still have the disposable income to pay for the convenience of walking into a VZW store and leaving with an always-connected netbook. The rest of us will purchase our netbooks and internet access separately.

This trip is taking me to Cairo, OH and Manassas, VA for the third time in four weeks. I really don’t mind though. It’s an easy run and I get to go up one way and come back another, so I’m not looking at the same scenery all the time. It’s also a good paying run and I really like that part. All in all, outside of running this in the winter, I think this is one of the best runs to have.

My ten hour break will be up in one hour. So I’m going to take care of some paperwork and checking my e-mail before I hit the road again. I only got to Joplin, MO last night, so I’ve got a long day of driving today. I should be in OH late this evening. I’ll load the tanker with sulfuric acid and take my ten hour break then head out to Manassas in the morning. The leg to Manassas is the hardest because of the tanker being loaded and “heavy” and having to drive through a lot of mountains. Anyway, back to “work”.

I actually thought that when I finished the last entry that I would be heading off to bed. I didn’t. It’s now a little after 5:00am and I’m going to bed after this post. Why my body wanted to stay up this long, I’ll probably never know. Good night!

I ask this question because the night before last, I started driving from Kingman, AZ. I drove 736 miles to Amarillo, TX and had to take a short one hour nap in between. I also got a one hour nap after Dean took over driving from Amarillo. I thought I would have been “dead” to the world around 8:00pm last night. I wasn’t! It’s 3:30am Monday morning and I’m still up and awake! What gives???

Is it because last Monday’s run was only supposed to be up to Winchester, VA and back to Dallas, but ended up going from Winchester, VA to Jackson, TN to Albuquerque, NM to Gallup, NM to Stockton, CA and a couple of other cities around the San Francisco / Oakland, CA area. I’m only getting today (Monday) off and will have to leave for Ohio on Tuesday morning. Do I just want to have as much awake time home before I get back on the road? That doesn’t allow me to get the needed rest before leaving out! I have to admit that I’m really concerned about my rest and sleeping habits right now. I don’t know how they will affect my health.

Just a question I wanted to ask.

For the past two and a half days, I’ve been back on the job.  I like the money I make with this job, but I have no life!  I go to work and when I finally come home, I want to do a few things that I don’t get to do on the road.  I like spending time on the Internet and with my computers.  I want to spend time with my wife.  My computers are always available to me, but my wife works, so she is not.  It’s difficult.

Most jobs are go to work in the morning and get off in the late afternoon (8 or 9 hours later).  My days start early in the morning and finish normally after 12 to 14 hours later.  When I get home, it’s a week later and I only have 34 hours off (sometimes 48).  Weekends…  ????   What weekends????

Kathy told me yesterday that I don’t have to be a truck driver, but I have to be able to make as much money as I am now!  I can’t just walk away from this job.

How does one do this job and still feel like he has a life at home?  Anyone know?  If so, please let me know.  Thanks!

I have been on vacation now since last Monday.  I had to go to the doctor on Monday because I was sick the last three days of my trip to Salt Lake City, UT.  I’ve been sick all this week!  Today is the first day that I feel a little more like a human and I have to go to work tomorrow!  Oh well, ‘such is life…’

The one thing that I’ve done this week is install Windows 7 on my Compaq laptop.  All I can say is… WOW!  I really like it.  It runs faster and I really like the new taskbar.  It is a really big help to me with all of the applications I run on a normal day.  You can pin your most used apps to the start menu AND you can pin the most used data file to that app on the task bar.  Right click on the app and it shows you a context menu that has your last used data files and the ones you pin to the app at the top.  Using my personal map with Streets and Trips 2009 is available without having to open Explorer and finding the correct folder then clicking on the data file.  It’s just there!  Wow…  Thanks Microsoft!  Of course, I only looked at it from a “normal” days use of the O/S.
