I got back to Dallas last Thursday and had a three day break.  It’s been great.  I was told on Thursday that I would be heading to Georgia on Monday.  Got a call yesterday saying that my load would not be ready until 5pm today, so I’m getting another half day off (hooray!).

I heard that Fort Benning is having a “display” of some sorts going on and we had delivered a Hummer or two for one of our clients.  I was thinking that we would be going to Georgia to pick them up, but I’m really not sure what we will be taking to Georgia.  No matter.  It’s just a job.

Netbooks are becoming very inexpensive and the main reason for having a netbook is to be connected to the Internet which means being connected with Wi-Fi or through a cellular Internet connection.  Obviously, the main connection for this netbook would be the Verizon cellular Internet connection.  You can take a “regular” notebook computer and purchase the cellular Internet USB modem or PCMCIA card modem and would have the same connection as the Verizon netbook, but it would be external to the notebook.  The cost of this would be about $62.00 per month over a two year period.  That’s $1,488.00 that you’ve added to the cost of the notebook!  The Verizon netbook costs $199.00, then $1,488.00 for a total of $1,687.00.  Your “regular” notebook would cost $1,488.00 plus the $500 or $600 you paid for the notebook.  So, my question is why do people write this kind of crap???… (See last paragraph discussing costs.)

Verizon HP Mini 1151NR netbook launching May 17th?

by Matt Burns on May 11, 2009

May 17th is shaping up to be a big day for Verizon if this rumor is correctly stating the launch date of upcoming netbook. That day is also the launch date of the portable hotspot, MiFi. The HP Mini netbook comes packing integrated 3g wireless for Internet connectivity and will be available for $199 with a two-year data contract. Yeah, it’s a bit pricey.

Purchasing a netbook this way isn’t the cheapest solution. It will cost somewhere between $960 to $1,440 over the 2 years to own and use the netbook. But some folks still have the disposable income to pay for the convenience of walking into a VZW store and leaving with an always-connected netbook. The rest of us will purchase our netbooks and internet access separately.

I actually thought that when I finished the last entry that I would be heading off to bed. I didn’t. It’s now a little after 5:00am and I’m going to bed after this post. Why my body wanted to stay up this long, I’ll probably never know. Good night!

Dual-Screen Sabayon Linux 3.4a Goodness

Great little video on Sabayon linux and dual-screens. It really shows off Sabayon linux.

I’m here in Lebanon, TN about to leave to head back to Texas.  I’ve got a load for McKinney and will be there tomorrow morning… early!

I hope to have a two day weekend off, but I have a feeling that I won’t get it all.  I’ve made plans to take Mom out for dinner for Mother’s Day and hope that I’ll get the chance.  We’ll see what happens.

Time to hit the road again!  Keep the shiny side up!

I’m really not sure where to start. I guess I should give you a little information about the many items that I will be trying to cover over the next few posts. To start with is my job. Wow… I was so disappointed that I wanted to quit and even called my old employer to see about getting my job back. Now, things have changed for the better and I need to contact my old employer about my decision to stay where I am. I’ll discuss the circumstances around these changes in the next post.
