Vacation Time

I have been on vacation now since last Monday.  I had to go to the doctor on Monday because I was sick the last three days of my trip to Salt Lake City, UT.  I’ve been sick all this week!  Today is the first day that I feel a little more like a human and I have to go to work tomorrow!  Oh well, ‘such is life…’

The one thing that I’ve done this week is install Windows 7 on my Compaq laptop.  All I can say is… WOW!  I really like it.  It runs faster and I really like the new taskbar.  It is a really big help to me with all of the applications I run on a normal day.  You can pin your most used apps to the start menu AND you can pin the most used data file to that app on the task bar.  Right click on the app and it shows you a context menu that has your last used data files and the ones you pin to the app at the top.  Using my personal map with Streets and Trips 2009 is available without having to open Explorer and finding the correct folder then clicking on the data file.  It’s just there!  Wow…  Thanks Microsoft!  Of course, I only looked at it from a “normal” days use of the O/S.

Mom

10:00am – Going to visit Mom today.  Haven’t seen her is some time and really want to spend some time with her.

5:45pm – Back from my visit.  She’s doing well.  We had a good visit.  Didn’t discuss too many things.  I did show her the videos from the Calico Ghost Town.  We watched a little TV.

What To Do???

I’m a little confused right now.  After getting my wonderful, little Eee PC, I haven’t been able to do what I planned on doing with it because the 12g SSD is partitioned into 2 drives.  The C: drive is small and doesn’t allow me to install the software I want.  I was going to use the SD card as my primary means of storing data.

So my problem is trying to figure out whether or not to even try to get the other software on this PC or just rethink my use of it.  It is a computer that I will constantly carry with me obviously because of the size and portability.  So what other software do I install here and use on a regular basis?

This has got to be my computer that I keep my blogs up-to-date with.  That’s not a problem, because I’m using it now.  I use Windows Live Writer and really like this software a lot.  No reason to change.  One of the other software apps I need to install is eWallet from iLium.

More on all this a little later.  I’ve got to get a couple of thing done before I have to go back on the road.

Truck won’t start

I got back today from Manassas, VA and Jeff and Tony needed my truck for a drivers test. When I got back this morning for a short run to Houston, my truck wouldn’t start. Tony had me take another truck which is fine, just not convenient.

New Asus Eee PC

I am using my new Asus Eee PC.  I am thrilled with it right now.  The keyboard is tough to touch type on but I’ll get used to using it or put a larger keyboard on it when I’m home.  I’ve got to do a few more things with it so I’ll write a little more later.
